Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Kailan (Brassica alboglabra L.) dengan Pemberian Pupuk Kompos Limbah Pabrik Minyak Kelapa Sawit

Abstract


Brassica alboglabra L. is one type of vegetable that contains lots of carbohydrates and is a source of minerals and vitamins. One of the efforts that can be done to increase the growth and production of Brassica alboglabra L. is the provision of inorganic fertilizers. However, the use of inorganic fertilizers in the long term will result in an imbalance in soil structure and soil biological ecosystems, which in fact has an impact on decreasing crop production. One alternative that is able to overcome this problem is the addition of organic fertilizer. This research aims to determine the effect and the best dose of palm oil mill waste compost on the growth and production of Brassica alboglabra L.. This research was conducted experimentally using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 (five) levels of treatment. The dose of compost that was treated in this study included; K0 = No compost, K1 = 53 g/plant of compost, K2 = 106 g/plant of compost, K3 = 159 g/plant of compost and K4 = 212 g/plant of compost. Observations of plants were carried out at the end of the study. The parameters to be observed were plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width and plant fresh weight. Analysis of variance showed that the provision of PMKS waste compost had a significant effect on all observation parameters. K4 treatment gave the best effect with plant height of 47.01 cm, number of leaves 10 pieces, leaf length 21.94 cm, leaf width 20.38 cm and plant fresh weight 117.46 g.
